Today (2026-07-12), I wonder if we really have free speech because apparently anyone can see a publication, and if they identify with it, they apparently can sue you.
Notes to readers
Undisclosing names can help you avoid some types of legal trouble, it doesn’t help for all cases, and, at all times you’ll may still be responsible for whatever you post. So if you have something to say about someone please be responsible about how you post and how you frame things.
I can tell you, for example, specific examples of what happened on the past, but I always make sure to try to frame things as they were, and also I make sure to don’t post anything that can be traced to an specific individual or company.
Also I’m not a lawyer, please take the above information with a grain of salt.
Identifying the root cause…
Somewhere in 2024, a company CEO, saw a post that he identify with it. I never disclosed any company name or any person name for that post. But this person though that my free speech on saying my experience with an undisclosed company and person was about him and his company. As I know I have my free speech and anyone has it. We can share stories, on my case on this blog, and we should be protected by the laws of it.
I really didn’t know that a person would try to create a court case, with modified HTML pages to frame me. I also didn’t know that by hiding the identity of a company or of a person that someone could say that it’s them. Even if it’s not. I’m dumbfounded about the attitude of this company and person managing it. But ok, this person wants to go to court about something that’s protected by free speech and that doesn’t disclose anything about any company or any person, I’m ready for this.
What was done by this third party?
I’ll say it with bullet points:
- Supposedly I somehow ruined his company name by not saying anything about his company.
- That I worked for a [redacted] company, yes redacted company name and supposedly I worked for this company that doesn’t exists while I worked for him. 🤣
- That my articles said specifically his company name or his name, BTW, that’s a lie and the evidence showed that he did edit the HTML pages, another fail 🤣
- That my contract with this company said specifically that I was hired for “web development”, another fail.
And so on.
Did I do anything that he said?
If the response is not obvious, I didn’t, but this only became a laughing matter to me today. I’ll be happy to provide an attorney with all the supposed evidence that he created and manipulated, (this comes from the court, not from me) and show the reality to this attorney for him to get a foot on the subject and make this case dismissed on day 1 or fight with the real evidence and win all the same.
So do we have free speech?
Supposedly we have until someone thinks that your free speech is hurting them. In that case, even if it’s a lie, you might have to fight for your free speech. With that in mind, journalists, authors, and other people might be in trouble, if they say something that offends someone, even if it’s the truth.
Probably I should refrain myself from blogging, but I won’t. I have the right for free speech and I’ll be using it everyday. Of course, sometimes you might have to protect yourself from others by simply not disclosing their names or their identity, and that should be enough for legal requirements. Unfortunately, many people are snowflakes and might think that what you say or what you post is about them, but in that regard you cannot do anything. Common sense should be used but for some people, that doesn’t exist and you’ll be in trouble.
Fortunately, if I have anything to say about a company or about a person I refrain myself from saying their name or company name, to protect myself from certain people that don’t know what 2 + 2 is.
Am I making fun of anyone?
Fortunately, I’m not, I’m just saying the reality of being on my side of justice, for this particular case. I’m am not at fault for having this accusations, that make me laugh, at me. It’s this specific company or person fault. If this case, and the details of this court case are made public, like really specific things like company name or person name it will not be my fault because I don’t disclose that information.
After all we do have our free speech, and we can do whatever we want with it, but it comes with responsibilities, like if you have something bad to say about someone, don’t disclose the complete name or the name entirely of the company or person. After all, if you do that they can come after you for damages to a brand or person.
Final notes
Please, if you do like me, a blog for a past time, be responsible for whatever you have to say. Yes we have free speech, but it doesn’t mean that you can bad mouth a company or a person directly. Even if you’re telling the truth.
In my case I always tell my readers the truth about the situations that I’m on and I don’t disclose information that can come for me in the future. For example, I can exemplify the reader with truths, but associating directly a company name or someone’s full name might bring trouble for me in some articles. That’s why I refrain myself from doing it, for at least some legal protection.
